There have also been things going on behind the scenes besides technical difficulties. I wont go into too much detail because I don't think it's appropriate, but the remaining band members seem to have the dynamic of a divorced couple. They do their best to stay on the same page and get a long but it seems like they've all got different visions and ideas on what to do now. It seems like it's rare for them to agree. I'm not in the band so I obviously stay out of it. I can't help but feel like the division within the band is negatively affecting fans. For instance the on and off shows and touring. In 2016 it looked like they were back together and were going to go on tour. But things changed. They did do a few shows, and it was supposed to be the start of something (or that was my impression).
As I've mentioned before the Gits website (in 2016) split in two, thegits.com and the site I ran fans.thegits.com. I didn't like the change mainly because I felt it would be confusing for the fans and people looking for the site. They made a basic page reflecting the reunion show with Rachel Flotard but never did anything else with it. Honestly, I've been feeling stifled, so I've taken the initiative lately to makes things happen, such as the site and merch.
For now we are using our Gits ebay shop to sell the official screen printed merch (apparel) we have right now. I've been getting lots of requests for new sticker and clothing designs and started to take requests and sell Gits merch on Teespring. So far we've sold a handful or stickers, shirts and a hoodie. I'm excited about the fact that we now have Gits hats (beanies and baseball caps) and you can find them in the ebay shop. They have The Gits logo embroidered on and there's a few styles to choose from.
The new site will...
- be mobile compatible
- more simplified but still thorough
- have way more merch
- updated often!
