 David Bowie's death has been harder for me than I thought. As I've been moving through the stages of grief my friends have been there propping me up along the way. It's been just over a month since his passing and in that time I received dozens of messages from friends, family and BTD fans. It ended up being more than I ever could have expected. I was moved by all the kind words and shoulders I could cry on.  My friend Heather made this happen...all the way over on the East Coast at the vigil outside Bowie's flat. Thank you Jen and Shawntal and making this happen! My friend Richard got me these amazing gifts. One if a gold record/disc for Blackstar, the other is an original piece of art by Vlad Tixon .

 Since I began making websites I also began my journey on learning graphic programs to create images. In the beginning I had no money or much knowledge but I found my way before long. I started to learn Photoshop and finally went to school for graphic design in 2011. That solidified my knowledge and gave me affordable access to the programs I needed. One of my favorite things to do to pass the time is the listen to music and make graphics in Photoshop.   I rarely focus on things like changing existing photos. I do more of creating something entirely new. Over my time of using photoshop my eye became more keen on repeating patterns and inconsistencies. The last photo shoot David Bowie did.  On the morning of January 11th, I woke to my boyfriend telling me that David Bowie died. He had to say it a few times for it to sink in. Not only was I half awake but I also just couldn't believe it. Was it a rumor? Is it verified? If this was true I knew my Facebook and email would have exploded with messages. Sure enough, that was the case. I logged on to numerous messages and comments verifying the terrible news. He had died the night before. By some stroke of luck I had went to bed kind of early; so I slept through the initial wave of the news. I want to forewarn you guys about something that can be a real, awesome but scary possibility soon... David Bowie touring. Why am I warning you about this you ask? The thing is, I'm warning you on my behalf.  Because when, and I do mean when, David Bowie announces a tour I am going to go into panic mode. I'm not thrilled about this. I'm also not thrilled in the ways I've acted in a pinch at concerts. I'm not talking Beatle Mania screaming girl crazy, more like a lifelong Catholic getting to see the Pope.  Here are all the possible outcomes, which my inner fan girl has already calculated: 1) If he tours and doesn't come to the USA, I'm going to cry and lament. 2) If he tours and comes to the USA  I'm going to be obligated to go where ever it may be .   Yesterday at nearly the last minute I found out about a documentary being played on "David Bowie day" which is also the launch of the " David Bowie is" exhibit in Chicago . Never before have I wanted to be in Chicago so badly. How great it would be to be in a city celebrating David Bowie day. I wished that I could teleport to Chicago and join the Bowie fans.  So instead I did the next best thing, joining local Bowie fans at the Shattuck Cinemas for a showing of the "David Bowie is" documentary. I got there early with my pre-bought ticket to find other Bowie t-shirt clad folks started showing up. I think I was blushing with a huge grin because I was so happy to be around other people in Bowie shirts. By the way, if you were going to make a drinking game out of how many times I say "Bowie" in this post you'd already be trashed.  I tried to get a group picture of all these fans in their gear...but no one wanted to be photographed for...

My DB tattoo  Just about a year ago we were gifted the best gift a music fan can get... new material .   I gobbled up every album teaser Bowie had to offer since announcing the new album on his birthday in January. Like a true boss, he announced a new album was coming in March right on the coat tails of his long rumored retirement. It was once again an exciting time to be a David Bowie fan.   March 8th came like Christmas morning, and I marched to the music store as if it were my sworn duty to report. No, not a war, but an outburst of English rock and roll music. Prior to this time English musicians were nonexistent in the American music scene. What was your first tattoo? Are you now covered in ink? I've always appreciated the art and beauty of well done tattoos. I vowed from the beginning to only get quality work done of things that really matter to me. 2006 I got my first tattoo, I currently have more and plan to gradually get more over the course of my life. Meeting another person with ink automatically gives you common ground, even if you disagree on everything else. Every tattoo has a story, every tattoo is personal. This has been shown in reality shows on TV, and documentaries; the story and meaning of tattoos. The thing that matters most to me is music, and my ink reflects that.
